This website is dedicated to preservation and restoration of Historic Fort Wayne located in Detroit, Michigan.
Our intention in presenting this website is not political, nor to make any profit. Rather, we want to draw public attention to a piece of Detroit history that has been forgotten and neglected for nearly a decade. Without public support and funds, this great facility risks becoming like so many of Detroit's other artifacts, a ruin.
As a child our school took field trips there and I can still remember walking along the inside of the original fort and wondering what it must have been like to be a civil war soldier serving there. Now, when I travel by the fort, I can barely contain the emotion of seeing the buildings lying in ruin. Paint falling off, gutters falling down, massive holes in the roofs, buildings burned out and fences lying against the buildings as if somehow our civic leaders have forgotten our past. I urge you to look through this site, rediscover a piece of our past and see for yourself the devastation that has befallen our great piece of history. Remember, we are only one voice when we choose not to group together and speak out against such atrocities. Together, we can work as a team to create public awareness and attraction of private funds to bring back our once great site to the glory it deserves.
